Here’s How to Check the Expiry Date of Your Car Insurance Policy

The expiry date of a car insurance policy can be found on the websites of IIB, Vahan, and insurance providers.

All car owners are required to have a valid third-party insurance policy. A car insurance policy provides various advantages. In the event that your vehicle is damaged in an accident, the coverage will pay the costs. A car insurance policy will also cover any damage incurred as a result of theft.

A car insurance policy must be renewed on time in order to be valid. Each policy has an expiry date, and once it does, you are no longer protected from any contingent charges. It is therefore critical to be aware of the expiration date of your auto insurance coverage.

Ways to Check Car Insurance Status Online:

  1. Via IIB

The Insurance Information Bureau of India is a data repository that is under the purview of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The Insurance Information Bureau’s website contains all the information on vehicle insurance policies (IIB).

You may check the expiry date of your auto insurance policy online by following these instructions.

  • Go to the IIB’s official website.
  • Enter your registered name, mobile number, email address, and vehicle registration number.
  • Enter the captcha code and click Submit.
  • The page will then display information about your car insurance coverage.

The page will display your policy details, including the expiry date. It should be noted that the website only contains information for insurance contracts purchased after April 1, 2020.

  1. Via VAHAN

When monitoring the status of your car insurance policy, you can use VAHAN e-services instead of IIB. Please provide us with the following instructions:

  • Go to the VAHAN e-services website.
  • Select “Know Your Vehicle.”
  • When requested, provide the car’s registration number as well as the verification code.
  • Select the “Search Vehicle” option.
  • Examine the insurance expiry date, which is now available with other pertinent car information.

Check Car Insurance Status Offline

If you do not have access to the internet, you can verify the status of your insurance by visiting or contacting the RTO office. For the purpose, you must supply your vehicle registration number.

If you fail to renew your policy on time, you will not only lose your coverage, but you will also lose any accrued policy benefits that are available at renewal. So, use reminders, check car insurance status regularly and make sure you renew your policy well in advance.
